I’m Emily, the cook and PN Nutritionist behind Feeding Well. I imagine you found yourself here because you’re interested in food, eating better and feeling better. First, a bit of background on me and how Feeding Well got going.
I got into cooking when I was graduating from University. I had moved back home, and was very overweight. I had been overweight most of my adolescent and adult life by that point, and while I had managed to lose 20 pounds from walking around the city (a huge change from my previous habits of, well, not walking at all), I wanted the rest of the weight gone once and for all! So I started paying attention to what I was eating (with the help of Weight Watchers), and made goals for myself. In a few months, I hit my goal weight, and I’ve kept it off since.
Now in my early 30s, I’ve started a family and find myself in the kitchen at home, honing in on not only my recipes but also our family’s eating habits.
This blog was started as part of a project I had in Culinary School in Toronto. Around the classrooms, I came to be known as the girl obsessed with bread and baking. My training in school was fairly encompassing, going from savoury to sweet to other places in the world. But when I’m bored at home, or stressed out, I calm myself by baking.
One result of that school project was winning second place in the school’s blog awards (*mini cheer*), and the other was the desire to connect with others! I’m now a stay-at-home work-from-home mom, and I want to hear from you! I want to know what you’re looking for when it comes to recipes, cooking and health.
On this site, you’ll currently find several sections. One includes my old culinary school posts, and you may find some fun readings in there. Beyond that you will find original recipes, theory (musings and technical advice), and nutrition.
I hope you enjoy browsing around my site, and please feel free to connect with me! Leave a comment, and be sure to follow me on Instagram for all my latest adventures!
